On Saturday (4/28/12), the Indy Youth GAA participated in the annual Healthy Kids Day at the Witham YMCA in Lebanon, Indiana. The rain may have forced the event to be moved indoors but there was no shortage of excited kids trying out martial arts, testing their fast pitch speed, or picking up a hurley and a sliotar for the first time. The line for our booth didn't let up for most of the three-hour event. Over 100 kids ages 3-12 visited the hurling booth and were able to hit the ball in our batting cage.
Special thanks to Tim Cabeen of the Indy GAA for all his help with setting up the cage and coaching the kids. Additionally, much thanks to Jennifer Smith, YMCA Sports and Family Director and Bryce Warkentien, YMCA Wellness Director for organizing a great event.
