As a kick-off for the 2012 season the Indianapolis Gaelic Athletic Association hosted a Youth Hurling Clinic Saturday morning, March 24th. Sixteen kids ages 5-16 got up at the crack of dawn (thank you parents!) in order to participate in the indoor session at SportZone in Indianapolis.
We had a handful of "veterans" attend to hone their skills but most of the participants were new to our club or even new to hurling.
Special thanks to our volunteers and coaches for helping out with the activities. Andy Hazel, Brian Thomas, Charles Anderson, Jennifer Masoni, Jeremy Pugh, Jimmy Pepper, Rudy Nehrling, Sean McGill and Tim Cabeen.
Youth hurling practices for the spring league session will begin on Wednesday, April 11th at Broad Ripple Park from 6.30pm to 8.00 pm. Games will be played at Eugene Burns Park in Lawrence on Sunday mornings at 10am beginning April 29th. Youth ages 5-17 are welcome.
Additional youth activities are being planned for this year so check the calendar for new events.
If you have any questions or would like to participate in the youth program, let us know. (
