The pitch was set for this epic battle. The rain, nor the temp could not keep these warriors away. From the first clash of the ash as Tobin threw in the ball both teams fought for possession and the chance to score. Kyle scored the first point for Good Earth. Some say it was like watching an eagle soar over the bar, pun intended. Goose’s Ciaran Byrne did not let the extra load of a wedding band weigh him down and responded with 2 of his 4 points. The Good Earth Wall of Landman (Joe, Dr, Rudy, and distant cousin twice removed Tristan) put forth a formidable defense that Goose could not penetrate. The wild fans could be heard shouting “Gooosse!” to liven up the mid field. Try as hard as they could the Goose Legs consisting of Nick, Sam, Patrick, Ciaran, Matt, Jeremy, and Jamila could only hold their ground. At half Good Earth had a small lead 1-6 to 1-5.
The second half starting off with a bang. Goose shifted their line-up and came out with an unrestrained fire. Immediately Goose showed that they are not a team to take lightly. The defense swore a solemn oath that no more points shall be scored while the offense chanted their rallying cry of “Goal, Goal, GOAL!” The back line of Lewis and Kelsey did not allow a single ball to enter the box. Kelsey even used trickery by flirting with Hjalti to distract him and then simply stepped right in front of him to clear the sliotar near the goal. The Goose full forwards scored goal after goal by Klynt, Sam, Ciaran, and Nick. The momentum had shifted and there was nothing that Good Earth could do to turn the tide. Valiant efforts to turn the game around by Church, Otto, Courtney, and Mike were not enough to keep Good Earth in the game. Goose won their second game by 5-10 to 1-6.
