Connor's Pub is off to an early 2-0 league start after a brusing win over the public house men of Brockway (0-2). With the game being played on the bogs of lake sullivan, tempers flared early as the ability to move or even pick up the ball were near impossible. Brockway opened the scoring with a goal in the first minute as they took advantage of a Connor's misstep in goal. The pace from there was rather slow as the ball would not move and at halftime Brockway enjoyed a 5 point lead.
The second half, just as the week before, is where Connor's came alive. There was good play on both sides of the ball, but with the puddle-less side on Connor's offensive side of the pitch, they capitalized with 3 goals and 3 points. The play of the match was a beautifully dropped ball from Tim Boyll over the head of Richard Connelly to Brian Church in-stride. Church caught, turned and shot the ball bast Brian Mathis in goal.
Although there was some good play throughout, the game was overshadowed by the heated exchanges on the pitch. Hopefully these two teams can concentrate on the hurling in the next few weeks, because the body nor the mind can endure a season such as this.
