Gaelic Football Kicks Off in Indy The Indianapolis GAA, it's not just for hurling anymore The Indianapolis GAA's inaugural Gaelic football league kicked off this past Sunday at Eugene Burns Fields. The league consists of three teams, the Grainne Uaile in green, the Wolfe Tones in white, and the Brian Boru's in black. The league will span 3 weeks with the next match taking place this Sunday, April 1st, 10am, and the finale under the lights on Friday, April 6th, at 8pm.
The turnout and gameplay of the matches was outstanding, especially considering the majority of the players are new to the sport. As the matches progressed the competitors hurling instincts kicked in and the intensity and skill quickly rose. The next two weeks look very encouraging and we hope to see the participation continue the trend.
