Camogie

Women have always been welcomed in the Indianapolis GAA and, in 2010, the club introduced the addition of a camogie team. Our camogie program is an excellent opportunity for women to learn a new sport and have fun doing it. The team is comprised of a diverse set of members who contribute to the club’s athletic and social presence. We welcome all women to try this exciting Irish game!

The camogie team has participated in national tournaments in San Francisco and Philadelphia, along with regional tournaments. Our team traveled to Cleveland to compete in the 2013 NACB National tournament and returned to Indianapolis as champions! We hope to build on our past success and to grow in strength and membership. The camogie team practices during the spring and summer (April-August).

Within the Indianapolis GAA, women are invited to play together with the men throughout the year. Some ladies prefer this level of competition and the co-ed participation is encouraged. However, if you feel uncomfortable playing with the men, it is perfectly acceptable to only come to the women-only events.

Whether familiar with the sport or just curious, we hope the women of Indianapolis will give it a try. No experience is necessary or expected. And all ages are welcome!
