2023 Pub League Award Nominations

We know it’s been a minute since Pub League, but now that those memories have had time to marinate, it’s time to nominate your fellow players (or yourselves, we don’t judge) for our 2023 Pub League Awards.

The link below will send you to the anonymous survey – you can submit nominations for as many or as few categories as you like. Players with at least two nominations for a given category will then be added to a ballot for a final vote, and winners will be revealed at our Annual Banquet on January 6th at the Oasis Lounge at the Murat. More details to come on that.

Please submit your nominations by Wednesday, October 11th.

Save the date, Sunday, September 10th will be the 2023 Indy GAA Golf Outing. Here are the details:

PLENTY OF BANG FOR YOUR BUCK!

  • Fun with your friends as you attempt the ridiculous task of getting a small white ball into a small hole several hundred yards away – 18 times.
  • Golf cart to carry your clubs, which are singularly ill-designed for the above mentioned task – but hey at least you can sit down in a very comfortable drinking position, within easy reach of the beer cooler on the cart.
  • Cheat bags for $20 (max 4 per team) – lower your score, boost your ego and add to your legend.
  • Bucket of balls and use of the driving range prior to your round – probably won’t help your golf game, but you will begin working up a thirst.
  • Unlimited beer/soda/water throughout the entire event – this will help, not just with golf game, but with philosophy of life.
  • Buffet meal of burgers & brats – the perfect accompaniment to beer.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available, so you can check out the sponsorship sheet here.

Introducing the 2023 Board of Directors

With 2023 right around the corner we’d like to formally introduce our new board of directors. As a reminder, board members serve two year terms, with half of the positions up for re-election this year.

The 2023 Indianapolis GAA Board of Directors will be:

  • Travis Ryan – Chairperson
  • Chris Burrows – Vice Chairperson
  • John Garlock – Treasurer
  • Rachel Keesling – Secretary
  • Jessica Rhodes – Events Chairperson
  • Kelsey Alcorn – Coaching Chairperson
  • Claire Lane – Membership Relations Officer
  • Brett Mahoney – Sponsorship Chairperson
  • Kyle Keesling – Public Relations Officer

A heartfelt thank you goes out to outgoing board members David Littlejohn, Josh Lane, Andretta Erickson, and Danny Jorgenson. This club does not exist without the generous contributions of time and effort from our members and for that we thank these folks along with everyone else who helps keep this club running.

Onward and upwards, here’s to a great 2023!

The AGM is this Sunday

Another friendly reminder that our annual general meeting will be held this Sunday morning, October 23rd, 10am at Bier Brewery on 65th St.

There are five open board positions to be decided. Being on the board of any organization is a labor of love and if you have love for your club you absolutely have skills and ideas that would bring value to the board.

Remember that serving on a board is a great way to support the club with skills you already have and/or a great way to develop skills and learn new things. Serving on a board is a great addition to a resume.

Open positions:

  • Chair
  • Vice Chair
  • Coaching Chair
  • Treasurer
  • Events Chair

Claire, our Member Relations Chair, has compiled this document that explains the roles and responsibilities of each of the board seats. Please take a moment to review it and consider throwing your hat in the ring.

If you are interested in any position or have any questions, please contact secretary@indygaa.com.

Also note that we will NOT be holding Sunday practices/fall league this week.

Fall Update

What a Weekend!

This year’s USGAA Nationals was one for the books. All codes won their first round of matches, and we had three out of five codes reach Championship Sunday, including our first-ever Ladies’ Gaelic football panel!

I’m extremely proud of all that were involved. Whether you were on the pitch, in the stands, or organizing from the sidelines you should be very proud of our accomplishments, and the way that we showed the rest of the country what it means to be a part of the Indy GAA.

Thanks to Brittney-Elizabeth Photography we also have an extensive photo library documenting the weekend. Photos are available for purchase if you would like to own a copy for personal uses, they also make a great gift! Please contact Brittney directly for details.

🌎 Global Fest – this Saturday

Think global and fest local at Global Fest 2022 presented by Good Living Indy. Join us to share traditions, honor heritage and learn about cultures through food, music, art and play.

The club will have a booth from noon until 5:30pm to teach people about the great Gaelic games. If you are interested in volunteering please contact Chris Burrows.

we hope you’ve noticed the player profiles on our social media accounts over the last few weeks featuring some of our female players. These were created as a recruitment tool to encourage more ladies to join our club.

We’d like to go ahead and open things up to highlight all of our membership. If you’d like to be considered for a profile feature, please tell us about yourself and why you love Indy GAA. New players, seasoned pros, coaches, Americans, Irish born, always injured — we want to showcase the diversity in our club! Fill out there form here →

Event Reminders for the Week of 4/17

Good morning folks! This week is packed with a number of great club events so I wanted to take a quick moment to remind everyone of what’s happening.

Wednesday, April 20th – Practice – Broad Ripple Park

Now that we’ve (hopefully) got the last snow of the spring out of the way let’s cross out fingers for a nice practice this week at Broad Ripple Park. Training starts at 6:30pm with Gaelic Football first, followed by Hurling.

Friday, April 22nd – Indy GAA Ladies Social – Bier Brewery on 65th St.

Let’s get together for an evening of fun before pub league games begin. Meet some current players and learn about Gaelic games & our club. If you have questions please email Claire Lane. The event starts at 7pm.

Saturday, April 23rd – Jersey Release Party – Books & Brews Mothership

Get a chance to meet up with your teammates before your first week of matches and see this year’s jerseys while supporting one of our great sponsors. The event starts at 4:30pm and the venue is family friendly. Also if you can’t make it don’t worry, you can grab your jersey from your captains on game day.

Sunday, April 24th – Pub League Week 1 – Eugene Burns Fields

After 2 years without Indy GAA Pub League matches in April we are back! Games will be at 10am, 11am, and 12pm. If you’re interested in Mug Club, talk to Brian Mathes.
