September Premier Night this Friday

The September’s Premier Night will be held this Friday, September 10th, 7pm at Kuntz Stadium!

NY Slice Food Truck

For those of who may be unfamiliar, Premier Nights are a chance for our members to play a match under the lights on a (nearly) properly sized pitch. We encourage all members along with their friends and family to come out and enjoy a night of good games and good fun.

We hope to hold three matches for the evening, one hurling, one Camogie, and one Gaelic football, but that all depends on your availability and willingness to play. So if you’d like to participate in any of these matches, please fill out this form so we can put together the most competitive teams possible.

🍺🍕 Did Somebody Say Beer & Pizza?

Sure did! Beer will be available and the NY Slice food truck will be on site serving up authentic NY style pizza, so come hungry!

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out to our Vice Chair, Josh Lane.

2021 Junior B Nationals Team

Week 6 Results, USGAA Nationals, and More

After an unplanned week off we return to the fields this weekend for Week 7 of the 2021 Pub League. Let’s take a quick second to review the results of Week 6 and

Skyline and Guinness put on a thrilling display but in the end Skyline eked out a one point victory in the last seconds of the match, Centerpoint and Dugan & Voland duked it out in a close one, and Hope Plumbing is still searching for a win.

USGAA Nationals

The club had a group of lads travel to Boston this past weekend to compete in the USGAA Nationals, and while a good match was had the team fell to Milwaukee in the first round. Next year nationals will be held right in our backyard up in Chicago.

Check out these great photos from the match →

Tappers Arcade Challenge

On September 4th at 2pm we will be holding an arcade challenge at Tappers. Membership Chair Nick Wilson has formulated a series of competitions for members to participate in for chances to win a free drink. For more details please reach out to Nick!

Week 7 Has Been Postponed

After much deliberation on the board and consultation with team captains we’ve decided to postpone this weekend’s matches to next weekend.

This decision was made due to the fact that we have enough members traveling to the USGAA Nationals this weekend that nearly every team will be unable to fill a full roster.

We still welcome any folks that are still in town to come out to the fields for a stick-toss/scrimmage.

What does this mean for the schedule?

Luckily not too much! The schedule was created this year with a built-in make up week on September 19th. This was originally going to be used as a rain day or as an extra week of practice for teams prior to the playoffs, which start the following week, on September 26th.

All matches have simply slid by one week, allowing us to still complete the league on time. All calendars and team matchups have been updated to reflect the new dates and you can look below for the next scheduled matches.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns please reach out to us, board@indygaa.com

Week 5 Results

Daredevil Brewing notches their first win by handing Hotel Tango their first loss while Skyline and Guinness are still undefeated. Only one undeated will remain after their match up next week!

Week 4 Results

Hope Plumbing and Daredevil Brewing are still searching for a win, Dugan & Voland finally gets a W, while Skyline, Guinness, and Hotel Tango remain undefeated.

Week 5 Pick ‘Em

Commissioner Cabeen has posted the Week 5 Pick ‘Em form, so be sure to get your picks in before the matches this Sunday.

🗓 2021 Premier Night Dates

Week 1 Results & Happenings

The weather held out this past Sunday and allowed us to hold a full week’s worth of matches! After over 15 months away from the pitch teams took the field to knock off more than just a little bit of rust and ultimately put on a delightful show of sport and skills.

The league officials are working to get match stats and outcomes entered soon, and when they are posted you’ll be able to see them in the table below, or by visiting our pub league page.

Week 2 Pick ‘Em is Live

Commissioner Cabeen has posted the Week 2 Pick ‘Em form, so be sure to get your picks in before the matches this weekend.

Referee Training this Wednesday

Brian Mathes will be holding an online Heartland GAA referee training course Wednesday evening at 8:30pm. Everyone is welcome to attend, and you can join with the link on our calendar event page.

Board Meeting this Wednesday

The club’s July board meeting will also be held this Wednesday at 7:30pm. We will try to keep the meeting as short as possible in case there are any members who would like to participate in this meeting as well as the ref training. Meeting details can be found here.

Tristan and the Mighty Bucks

Pub League Starts this Weekend

Pub league starts this weekend and we couldn’t be more excited! These games have been a long time coming and I know that it’ll be great to see everyone out on the pitch again. With that being said, I wanted to take a moment to share a few bits of info with everyone.

League Pick ‘Em is Back

Our league commissioner, Tim Cabeen, is once again holding a League Pick ‘Em. Those who are interested in participating can submit their Week 1 picks here. If you have any questions you can get ahold of Tim here.

A Special Thanks

I also wanted to take a moment and acknowledge all of the hard work and planning that has gone into making the season possible, particularly Tristan and the “Hardy Bucks” (my favorite band in college) who braved some adverse weather conditions this week to get the fields lined for this weekend.

Aussie Friendly has Been Postponed

We were informed this morning by our friends the Indy Giants that our Aussie rules football friendly scheduled for this Saturday will need to be postponed until further notice. We’ll be sure to share more details on the re-match as they come together.

Week 1 Details

We are hoping that the weather holds out on us, but if something changes be sure to keep an eye on Slack for the latest. If you need access to our Slack community please email me.

Without further ado below you’ll find the Week 1 matchups. You can also view lots of useful info on each matchup page, including fields, referees, and officiating crews.

Team Challenge

🏆 April Team Skills Challenge

March was a great month for our clubs Monthly Skills Competition. I know it’s tough not being on the field with each other but hopefully you felt some club esprit de corps and a connection to your teammates as we completed our challenges. I have my fingers crossed that this month’s challenge brings us one step closer to playing with each other soon.

March’s Winners

Hotel Tango rose to the trash talking of the pretenders to the throne to claim the football challenge and Skyline Roofing swooped in for the victory on the very last day in the hurling/camogie challenge.

This Month’s Challenge

Our hurling/camogie challenge involves the jab lift with a run/solo and our Gaelic football challenge is wall kicks. Please take a moment to view the videos below for all the details:

The Prizes

A $10 voucher for one of the club’s sponsors for all participating members of the winning team. In addition, all participating members of the team with the most participants will be entered into a drawing where one team member will win 2 passes to the Indianapolis Zoo!

Further Guidance

Please video and upload the recording to our Slack channels in the channel #monthlychallenges  and on social media. Please remember to mention your team and sponsor at some point in the recording and extra credit if you tag them too.

Don’t forget to enter your score here, or get someone on your team to do it for you, onto the Google Sheet linked below. THIS IS VERY A IMPORTANT STEP to ensure we can accurately tally the winners!

The challenge will end on April 30th, and a new challenge will then be launched for the month of May, hopefully bringing us one month closer to us getting together on the field again. This is a great opportunity for us all to practice our skills, stay connected and have some fun until we return to play.

I hope you all enjoy the virtual challenge and best of luck to everyone!

2019 Fall League and Practices

Fall Practices Start Tomorrow

Fall practice starts up again this Wednesday, 6:30pm at Riverwood Park

These practices are great introductions to hurling and football and are geared towards new folks who are interested in learning more.

No gear is required other than a comfortable pair of shoes, so there’s no excuse not to come, and bring a friend while you’re at it.

Also, please don’t forget to register for fall league, which starts the first weekend in October.
